AI saved my newborn's life. When he was 9 days old, on a Sunday, we noticed a concerning redness on his belly. At first we didn't think much of it, doctors were closed, he had a checkup in a couple days. We were about to let it go. I decided to take a picture and put it into ChatGPT... ChatGPT said it looked like a rare deadly infection called Omphalitis and to go to the ER immediately. We did, and as soon as the nurses looked at him they sounded an alarm and 8 doctors rushed into the room to hook him up to an IV as soon as possible. They confirmed it was Omphalitis and if they didn't act very quickly, it could spread into his blood stream and he could go septic and die. He was in the NICU for nearly two weeks, but he was cured, and he's now four months old and completely healthy. But it was quite a scare. Banning AI tools from use in medicine is one of the stupidest things I've ever read, and people should be ashamed for even proposing this.
