I sometimes ask it to explain why something is done in knitting so that I can understand the reasoning behind the way the pattern is written and what effect it has on the finished article, with the hope that eventually I'll be able to modify or write a simple pattern, and it's working. I knitted a hood without a pattern and whilst it's not perfect I couldn't have hoped to do this before.
