It immediately highlighted that cortisone near the Achilles tendon is strongly contraindicated in modern orthopedic literature because of a severe risk of tendon weakening and rupture. Armed with that knowledge and the medical terminology, I went to an orthopedic specialist for a second opinion. The specialist was horrified that the first doctor had offered the injection, confirming it easily could have ruptured my tendon. ChatGPT gave me the specific clinical terms I needed to advocate for my own health.
